Message from Brad Livingston, Executive Director: Click Here Being heard by state leadership: General Survey Information:
|
The Survey of Employee Engagement has been used by over 125 different types of organizations and has reached hundreds of thousands of employees. While the instrument does measure general organizational characteristics, we recognize the special nature of work performed in the institutional setting. TDCJ employees in the administrative positions receive the standard Survey of Employee Engagement because their jobs are similar to other organizations. For the employees at the Correctional Institutions Division, the survey has been modified to reflect the nature of the setting and the work that goes on at the units. Much of the survey is the same, but some items and areas have been adjusted. For example, the safety concerns of a correctional officer at a unit are different than those of an office employee at parole.
The Survey is a leadership tool used to build organizational effectiveness through a cost effective assessment of human resources. The Survey process enhances employee performance by actively engaging the workforce in a continuous process of organizational improvement. The use of employee feedback to surface relative strengths or areas of concern is a well-established technique to promote organizational development and a necessary element in strategic planning.
